Obituary: Don Cruikshank

Don Cruikshank, 70, Santa Clarita, Calif., died Nov. 24, 2023. Cruikshank, along with Mike Redmond, founded A-V Equipment Rentals in Newhall, Calif., in 1978.

In 2022, following the sale of A-V Equipment Rentals to Sunbelt Rentals, Cruikshank went to work for his son, Rob Cruikshank, at Valencia, Calif.-based 24/7 Events.

During his career in the equipment rental industry, Cruikshank served in leadership roles with the American Rental Association’s (ARA) California chapter, including two terms as president, from 2004-2012. At the association’s national level, he chaired the Government Affairs Committee from 2006-2008 and advocated for the industry through the ARA National Legislative Caucus in Washington, D.C. Cruikshank was named ARA Region Nine Person of the Year in 2006 in recognition of his service. He also was closely involved in the California Rental Association.

Cruikshank is survived by his wife, Denise; daughter, Stacie House; son, Rob (Kristi) Cruikshank; grandchildren, Ethan, Adyssn, Milana, Kaia and Kailani; and sister, Jackie.
