There are many equipment rental players in the New York tri-state and the Delmarva Peninsula, but Durante Rentals CEO Kenneth Cockrill says his company has grown because “we try to focus on our clients’ success and look for creative ways to differentiate ourselves in the markets that we serve. Customer segmentation is important to us, and our staff focuses on quality of service and managing the customer experience.”

Cockrill says New Rochelle, N.Y.-based Durante Rentals’ growth can also be attributed to being an early adopter of digital marketing via avenues with a balance on strong client relationships. “We have put a lot of focus into this in the last couple of years, and we are seeing it pay dividends. Going to market through digital channels is very important for us, especially with the customer segment that we thrive in,” he says.

In May 2023, Durante Rentals acquired the Iron Source brand, which enables the company to reach the mid-Atlantic market. Cockrill says the acquisition means his company can now serve customers in more varied, distinguishable ways.

“We take a very local approach to our business,” he says. “The markets that we serve are very different, but we have found success in managing different segments of the market, from a contractor needing a single rental to helping solve a specific issue on a job site through a large-scale infrastructure project at an international airport.”

Looking down the road, Cockrill sees the industry prospering, with current trends only continuing.

“Business will continue to thrive and there will be continued consolidation in the market,” Cockrill says. “I believe there will be continued growth in specialty and new verticals created — I have seen some interesting rental segments in the last few years that were developed and are starting to gain scale.”
