The 3.5-ton EC37 and 4-ton ECR40 compact excavators from Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), Shippensburg, Pa., are replacing the company’s EC35D, ECR35D and ECR40D models. The EC37 excavator has a conventional upper carriage design and the ECR40 excavator has a short swing radius to allow for work in more confined spaces. Both models include a new elongated undercarriage for stability. Both are equipped with Volvo D1.7A engines and have 25 hp gross power. The EC37 has an operating weight of 8,344 lbs. and the ECR40 has an operating weight of 8,785 lbs.
