The future leaders of the equipment and event rental industry came together on Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Young Professionals Network (YPN) Reception at The ARA Show™ 2024 in New Orleans.

The American Rental Association's (ARA) Young Professional Network (YPN) provides networking and education opportunities for ARA members from rental stores, manufacturers and students between the ages of 18 and 40.

The ARA Show™ 2024 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans offered plenty of opportunities to connect.

Attendees at The ARA Show™ have the opportunity to attend three unique events today — Sunday, Feb. 18.

Darren Randle, CERP, 33, wanted to be a sports agent when he was growing up. Now, as the founder and president of Houston Tents & Events, he has stayed connected to his childhood dream by providing rentals to many of the Houston area collegiate and pro sports organizations as well as many local amateur leagues. 

Darrick Farr, 33, general manager, A1 Party and Event Rental, Columbia, Mo., has a passion for what he describes as “helping all of mid-Missouri create the perfect event with the right rentals.” But a rental career was not always part of his professional plans.

Tim Allen, 39, president, Allied Equipment Services, Haskell, N.J., says he found himself in the rental industry by accident.

Rodney Coker, 32, president/CEO, Coker Rental Co., Powell, Tenn., was raised in a family that owns a chain of Ace Hardware stores.

Allison Freeman, 39, joined Chair-man Mills Corp. (CMMC) — Canada’s largest tent and event solutions provider with locations in Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia — as CEO in 2022.

For Raymond Gardner, 22, building a career at Rent Smart, his family’s equipment rental business in Grant and Sparta, Mich., was always the plan. 

Andrea Guzzoni, 33, CEO and co-founder, easyHire Technologies LTD, London, became involved in the rental industry nearly seven years ago when he launched Rentuu, a startup company that has evolved into easyHire Technologies. 

Michael Larsen, 20, hire manager, Larsen’s Air Conditioning Hire, Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, says he was “born into the equipment rental industry” with his parents, David and Caroline, who started the business in the early 2000s.

Katey Naylor, CEM, CERP, 39, was destined for a career in the event rental industry. Even as a youngster, she wanted to be a “party planner.” Today, as event director at Bright Event Rentals in Phoenix, she is living her passion of making clients’ dreams

Aurelio Sierra, 26, grew up helping his parents at Yennis Party Rentals, his family’s small event rental business in Anaheim, Calif., but he didn’t think about making it into a career until he was working in another industry that wasn’t feeding his entrepreneurial spirit. 

Adam Sneed, 35, and Carson Sneed, CERP, 32, have been involved in equipment rental since their youths through Big Sky Rents, Kalispell, Mont., their family’s business that was a Rental Management Market Mover in 2022.

Registration opens Wednesday, July 5, for the next ARA Women in Rental and Young Professional Network conferences.
