A man was volunteering for a fundraiser his church had sponsored. Several tents were set up on the church grounds. The man moved around the area to help where he was needed.

There was a bathroom trailer set up just beyond the actual area for the fundraiser that the volunteer said he had visited or passed by multiple times throughout the day.

Near the end of the day, he passed that area again making his way to the trailer. He tripped over a tent stake in the ground. It had been there the whole day but previously a rope was attached to the stake and then connected to a tent. At some point during the afternoon the rope had been removed.

The man stated that without the rope attached, he did not see the tent stake. Someone on the church grounds had removed the rope for some reason. It was attached to the stake when the tent was initially installed.

A claim was opened with the rental store’s insurance company. It will be investigated, and the wording of the rental contract will be reviewed to determine who might be responsible for the man’s medical bills.
