Ri$k HappensThe rental store employees loaded their box truck for the early morning delivery the next day. They locked up the truck, placed the truck key in the manager’s office, and left for the day, locking the property gate behind them.

Overnight, someone cut the lock on the property’s gate. The culprit then broke a window and gained access to the rental store. He quickly found the truck keys in the manager’s office and drove off with the truck after ransacking the office.

The rental store employees returned the next morning to find no box truck and no rental items for their early morning customer. They set to work loading new items into another truck and made it to their delivery just in the nick of time.

The manager filed a police report and obtained the security camera footage to aid the police. He then filed two claims with his insurance provider, one for the stolen truck and one for the rental equipment. He made sure his employees knew to lock up the keys in the safe in the future. They also installed motion activated flood lights and better locks on their fence to help reduce their risks.
