The mini crawler crane from Movex Innovation, Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada, is electric and remote controlled. The compact machine is 30.25 in. wide and 79.5 in. long. The telescopic crane capacity is 1,100 lbs. at 16 ft. 5 in. or 2,200 lbs. at 8 ft. 5 in. It also has a 9-in. ground clearance and up to 15 degrees up/downhill capabilities.

The crane can be removed and the base can be used as a hauler that can carry up to 8,000 lbs. The crane also can be installed on a stair climber.

“With our Movex mini crawler crane you get two pieces of equipment in one. In less than 30 minutes, you can transform this unique pick and carry equipment into a carrier with 8,000 lbs. capacity. With one piece of equipment in your fleet, you have two different rental application options,” said Francois Jean, business development director, Movex Innovation.

The crawler crane is designed to help keep workers safe and reduce physical efforts required for a job. The machine’s versatility also can help with labor shortages, the company says.

“Ask the new generation if they prefer a remote control or a pair of gloves and a shovel. If you make their life easy, there are more chances they’ll work for you,” Jean said.

The one-of-a-kind, Heart-of-Gold 185 Series Tier 4 Final portable air compressor from Sullair, a Hitachi Group Co., Michigan City, Ind., raised $18,000 in the ARA Foundation Charity Auction held during The ARA Show 2023. The Heart-of-Gold compressor was created in recognition of February being American Heart Month.

Before the gold compressor was shipped to The ARA Show, Sullair employees signed the unit with “love notes” in support of those affected by heart disease. This is the fifth 185 portable compressor Sullair has donated to the ARA Foundation Charity Auction. In addition, Sullair made a separate $10,000 charitable donation to the American Heart Association to support the organization’s Hard Hats with Heart campaign.

For equipment rental stores, two of the challenges are keeping machines both operating and looking good.

TigerTough seat coversEnter TigerTough, Vesta, Minn., and the company’s seat covers for equipment.

“I’ve been told multiple times here [at The ARA Show] that when somebody sends out a piece of equipment that looks good, it gets treated better,” says Sheldon Zitzmann, marketing director, TigerTough. “Almost everybody I’ve spoken to here is either replacing whole seats or parts of seats when they go to resell equipment. We can help them eliminate that for a very small fraction of the cost of a new seat.”

TigerTough has been making seat covers for work trucks since 1993. The company launched its seat cover product for heavy equipment in 2022.

“We’re the new kids on the block,” Zitzmann says regarding the heavy equipment industry.

The covers are made in the U.S. out of 1000 Denier Cordura, which the company says is waterproof and almost indestructible. There is no one-size-fits-all seat cover. Every seat is brought to the factory and a design team designs each seat cover from scratch.

The eDingo® 500 compact utility loader from Toro, Bloomington, Minn., has been upgraded. Featuring a narrow width of 30 in., making it capable of fitting through the tightest doorways, the product is a zero emission machine designed for indoor construction jobs requiring heavy or continuous operation and fast completion times, says Sam Dando, product marketing manager, Toro. The loader has a HyperCell Power System built to run cooler than other systems, Dando says.

The new eDingo still has a rated operating capacity of 515 lbs. The new design has a hinge pin height of 81 in., allowing for clearing into most standard dumpsters.

The high operating capacity allows for use of many Toro attachments, including a floor scraper, hydraulic breaker, grapple bucket, adjustable forks and more.
