The latest data compiled by the National Equipment Register (NER®) on nationwide equipment thefts shows — to the surprise of no one involved in rentals — that equipment theft remains big business for bad actors.
Equipment fraud, conversion and “smash-and-grab” thefts continue to plague the industry — especially during the summer months and over holidays. Last year, NER reported that nearly $7,050,000 in equipment is taken from more than 300 locations over the Fourth of July holiday alone.

Thanks to the American Rental Association’s (ARA) partnership with NER, members can register up to 1,000 pieces of mobile, off-road equipment with NER’s HELPTech database for free. Click here to get started!
