U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has said it has reached the congressionally-mandated cap on H-2B visas for the first half of fiscal year (FY) 2024.

The H-2B visa coalition learned that on Sept. 27, language it had been pursuing through the U.S. House's appropriations committee regarding Returning Worker Exemption was stripped out of the bill’s language. The coalition also has submitted a letter to Congressional leaders stressing the essential nature of the H-2B program and the risk of significant harm to the country if the government shuts down.
