Hello, American Rental Association (ARA) Region Two members. I’m Steve Creamer, manager at ABC Rental Center, Rosedale, Md., and president of the ARA of Maryland. It’s a hectic time for most everybody in our line of work right now — and that’s good — but I hope you’ll find time to take a breath and sign up for some of the exciting industry events that are coming up.

On July 30, the ARA of Pennsylvania will host an outing at PNC Park in Pittsburgh to watch the Pirates versus the Philadelphia Phillies.

On Aug. 5, my fellow members in Maryland are invited to our annual ARA of Maryland Crab Feast. This year we will be doing it up Hawaiian style, so if you’re coming, be sure to wear your best Hawaiian shirt, grass skirt or lei!

Another ARA of Pennsylvania social will take place on Aug. 6 at Hersheypark. This Family and Staff Appreciation Day will be a great opportunity to take staff and family to enjoy a fun Sunday with rides, lunch and camaraderie.

Elsewhere on Aug. 6, the ARA of Virginia will host a Family and Staff Appreciation event of its own at Kings Dominion.

On Aug. 20, New Jersey members are invited to close out the summer at the ARA of New Jersey’s Family and Staff Appreciation Day at Six Flags Great Adventure.

A little further down the road, in October, the ARA Women in Rental and Young Professional Network (YPN) conferences will take place in Clearwater Beach, Fla. The Women in Rental conference is sold out, but seats still remain for the YPN conference.

Go to the ARA Calendar of Events for more information on all these events and to register.

Keep an eye on your email for additional updates on the events your state-level ARA leaders are organizing for later in the summer and heading into the fall, and plan to attend. You’ll be glad you did.

I also want to give a shout-out to the industry up-and-comers from our region who have received scholarships through the ARA Foundation and its affiliate programs for the 2023-2024 school year:

  • Olivia Limberger, White Glove Rentals, Aberdeen, Md., who received an ARA Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship worth $3,500 and an ARA Region Two Ron Marshall Scholarship worth $750 for a total of $4,250.
  • Tyler Hurst, Power Pro Rents, Ringoes, N.J., who received an ARA Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship worth $2,000 and an ARA Region Two Ron Marshall Scholarship worth $750 for a total of $2,750.
  • Jonah Yingling, Capitol Rentals & Sales, Carlisle, Pa., who received an ARA Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship worth $2,000.
  • Tayte Lecy, Oakmont Capital Services, West Chester, Pa., who received an ARA Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship worth $2,000.
  • Juliana Blobe, ORE Rentals, Quakertown, Pa., who received an ARA Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship worth $2,000.
  • Cory Johnson, North Huntingdon, Pa., who received an ARA Student Member Scholarship worth $2,000.

Here’s to a safe and profitable remainder of our summer!
