Joseph Stephen Mihalko, 83, Whippany, N.J., died Jan. 22, 2024. Mihalko was the owner of Do-It-Yourself in East Hanover, N.J.
During his career in the equipment rental industry, Mihalko served as president of the ARA of New Jersey, his state chapter of the American Rental Association (ARA). He was a recipient of an ARA Region Two Person of the Year Award in recognition of his service to the industry.
Mihalko became owner of Do-It-Yourself in 1972; the business closed in 2015.
Mihalko is survived by his wife, Rosemary; sons, Joseph (Lori), Michael (Andee), Christian (Andrea) and Daniel (Lynn); daughter, Cynthia (Christopher) Lieto; sisters, Elaine Grumka and Joan Mihalko; 14 grandchildren; and a great grandson.
