Daniel Pearson, 51, Fort Worth, Texas, died Aug. 5, 2023. Pearson served on the Haltom City Police Department for more than 23 years and was a member of the department’s SWAT team. He also served on the North Texas Auto Taskforce, was part of the missing persons and crime scene units, was a detective and a past president of the Haltom City Police Association.

In February 2005, Pearson received the first-ever ARA Insurance/National Equipment Register (NER) award recognizing law enforcement officers who have performed exceptional service to the rental industry through the recovery of rental equipment or through theft prevention initiatives. Between February and September 2003, Pearson was responsible for the recovery of 48 machines with a value of nearly $1.2 million, much of which was rental equipment. Those recoveries led to the identification of 39 suspects of whom 15 were arrested and charged.

After receiving the ARA Insurance/NER award recognition, Pearson took part in equipment theft prevention conversations at The ARA Show™ and delivered presentations at several Texas Rental Association (TRA) events.

Pearson is survived by his mother, Peggy Moore; brother, Terry Miller; sister, Shelly Beatty; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and family and friends.
