The 50-ton EC500 straight boom excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), Eskilstuna, Sweden, features a 25.5-ft. straight boom fitted to the machine along with a demolition-specific cab. The machine has enhanced safety features like an optional remote control that allows operators to control the machine from a safe distance, the company says.
The EC500 straight boom is based upon the standard model introduced at CONEXPO 2023, but is custom-built for demolition. The machine is reinforced with boom/bucket cylinder protection, full track guards, heavy-duty belly covers and heavy-duty side doors.
