ARA FoundationThe ARA Foundation’s Employee Training Assistance Program can help you offer essential skills training for your employees during the slower winter months — and save money in the process.

This program can pay for 50 percent — up to $2,500 — of the costs associated with the types of training that will build your employees’ skills and keep your operation competitive.

Examples of common training areas covered by the program include:

  • Commercial driver’s license (CDL)
  • First aid
  • American Rental Association (ARA) Certified Sales and ARA Certified Service
  • Welding
  • ARA Box Truck Training
  • Hospitality services
  • ARA Professional Driver Education Program
  • Leadership training
  • ARA Certified Event Rental Professional (CERP) program

Trainings do not need to be ARA-branded programs but must support a career in the equipment or event rental industry.

The savings on training offered through the Employee Training Assistance Program helped Event Essentials in Windsor, Wis., make one of its drivers, Jakob Sather, become a valid CDL holder.

“Getting your CDL is typically anywhere from $2,500 to $4,500, so the financial assistance was a huge help,” says Robert Copley, CERP, Event Essentials sales manager and incoming ARA Region Five director. “Anything to help offset that sort of cost is vital, especially when you’re doing those things in the off-season. We have utilized the Employee Training Assistance Program through the ARA Foundation a couple of times. It has been great.”
