George’s Tool Rental (GTR), Hatfield, Pa., a mainstay of the state’s equipment rental scene for more than 50 years, joined the Sunbelt Rentals family effective June 29, 2022.

Sunbelt Rentals says the acquisition, which also includes GTR’s second location in Danboro, Pa., increases its northern Pennsylvania footprint and provides GTR’s customers with access to a more diverse product and service offering.

GTR was established in 1970 and has supported the needs of commercial contractors and DIYers in the Bucks-Mont area of northern Pennsylvania through its fleet of light dirt, small tool, general tool and aerial equipment.

Marty Leber, who has worked full-time at GTR since 2006, serving as owner/president since 2018 — and whose parents, Phil and Bertha (Bert) Leber, owned the company from 1970-2004 — says her employees were top of mind as she decided to sell the business.

“In the decision-making process, the No. 1 thing that went through my mind was my employees, because it’s a family,” she says. “Sunbelt has the resources to take care of our employees financially. Their goal was to retain every employee and basically, they were able to do that. They also have a lot of opportunities for growth and movement within the company. That’s really a plus for my guys, especially the younger ones in their 20s and 30s who want to move up and do something different. There’s so much opportunity for that in Sunbelt.”

Access to new equipment and the ability to source parts to keep inventory repaired and rental-ready are other factors that led Leber to Sunbelt as the right brand to carry GTR’s two locations into the future. “In addition to supplying more employees, which was a struggle, Sunbelt was able to offer support in supplying more equipment. That was what I was looking for,” she says.

Leber says she will serve as a consultant to Sunbelt Rentals for a limited period to assist with the transition.
