Ri$k Happens: What's that smell?

An employee was using a forklift when he smelled plastic burning. He stopped the forklift and looked around the rental yard to see if he could figure out the source of the odor. The next thing he knew, the engine compartment of the forklift was on fire. He grabbed the fire extinguisher while a coworker called 911. The fire department arrived quickly and put the rest of the fire out. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but a cause and origin investigation has been opened.

The quick thinking of the employees kept other equipment from being damaged and anyone from getting hurt. Periodic reminders about fire safety can keep safety top of mind for all employees.
