What makes your product “rental-specific?” “Our software was made for rental professionals by rental professionals. All the functionality was purpose-built for real-life operations, whether at the counter, in the yard, in the shop or on a delivery route. Users don’t have to make custom modifications to complete essential day-to-day tasks, such as cycle billing contracts on a monthly basis; emailing contracts for electronic signatures; capturing images of equipment at check out and check in; temporarily suspending rentals without closing the contract and restarting the time; splitting depreciation across multiple locations; tracking inventory; and creating branch to branch transfers.

“InTempo isn’t just for the rental side of an equipment business. Users can manage merchandise, parts and equipment sales, as well as their entire service department, including customer-owned equipment. All of this can be done on the same platform, which means that a business doesn’t have to manage separate tech tools for each side of their business. As far as day-to-day operations, users can ‘quick start’ with industry-specific best practices, or they can adjust their approach to accommodate processes they’ve fine-tuned over years of operation. We make our software fit each individual rental business, not the other way around,” says Matt Hopp, general manager.

How does your product make a rental store more efficient? “InTempo is designed to be the base platform on which a rental company can handle all of its processes. That includes core functionality for accounting, inventory, operations and maintenance, but it also includes ancillary processes like capturing signatures, completing condition reports, and managing warranties. There’s never a question as to ‘where do I need to go to get this done?’ It’s all in InTempo. Data updates in real time, so users don’t have to spend time chasing other departments for statuses and follow-up,” Hopp says.

Why should a rental store choose your product? “We have built a product that you can stick with for the long haul. You’re not going to end up paying for extra licenses when you hire new employees or find out when it’s too late that you can’t integrate with one of your other core solutions. That flexibility really is unmatched in the rental industry, and it gives you assurance that you won’t have to go through a painful migration off a system that simply can’t support your growth the way you need it to. Beyond that, our team members have been part of the rental industry for the majority of their careers. We know what it takes to grow a successful rental business because we’ve actually done it — and now we’re passing that know-how on to our customers,” Hopp says.

Most used new feature available with your software package: Hopp says the InTempo Mobile App is the most widely adopted new feature and that its Integrated Payments has been well received. “Credit card processing can feel like an afterthought, but there’s really not much that’s more critical to your company’s operations than getting paid. Calling customers to get a card number for every single new reservation is a huge waste of time; so is manually keying in card numbers and transaction amounts and reconciling accounting data across multiple systems. Integrated Payments in InTempo makes it much faster and easier to get paid,” he says.

Rental companies using InTempo software: More than 300 across North America.
