The American Rental Association (ARA) state chapters of Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee recently welcomed three industry professionals — Lance Scott, Marcus Hall and Brandt Gaylor — to their boards of directors.

“Throughout my life I have always enjoyed working and operating construction equipment,” says Scott, general manager of Reliable Rental Equipment. “From a young age clearing land and doing grades on my dad’s construction sites to my career in law enforcement helping people during times of tragedy, throughout my life I have had a passion for helping people with their needs. That has always been one of my biggest goals.”

Scott learned of a vacancy on his ARA state chapter board of directors at a local event and stepped up to get involved to “become a part of something great to help ARA of Mississippi get strong again.”

“I have a background in the construction industry and have seen areas where improvements could be made in the industry,” he says. “With ARA we can come together collectively and address some of these changes that will better the industry and its customers.”

Scott says that through his involvement with the ARA of Mississippi board, “I hope to increase safety awareness and training within the rental market, both on the rental side and customer side. I feel that customers need additional training to ensure their safety while operating rental equipment.”

ARA of South Carolina

Marcus Hall, Ruth’s House Event Rentals, Holly Hill, S.C.

Hall is co-owner and director of operations of Ruth’s House Event Rentals.

Established in 2005, the full-service event rental company offers tents, tables, chairs and more to a wide array of clients.

Hall has been in the rental industry for 18 years. Prior to his entry into the industry, he was a licensed barber and maintained a career in the field of network operations.

He holds a master’s degree in network administration and is a Microsoft Certified Professional. Hall also holds a Bachelor of Science in leadership and a certificate in biblical studies.

As a member of his ARA state chapter’s leadership team, Hall says his focus will be on getting his local peers involved in association activities. “I have a desire to serve the ARA of South Carolina membership by recruiting stronger participation from the Low Country area,” he says.

Away from the operation of his company, Hall has served as a volunteer YMCA basketball and volleyball coach and Sertoma Football League coach.

ARA of Tennessee

Brandt Gaylor, United Rentals, Knoxville, Tenn.

Gaylor serves as branch manager Power HVAC with United Rentals. “I’ve been in the rental industry since 2011 with United Rentals. I was hired as a sales rep and now am a branch manager,” he says.

Gaylor learned of an open slot on the ARA of Tennessee board of directors through industry contact — and current board member — Jim Decatur of All Occasions Party Rentals, Knoxville, Tenn.

As a brand-new member of the team, Gaylor’s goals are simple as he gets acclimated to board service. “I’m interested in just advancing the rental industry as a whole,” he says.
