For the second time in his equipment rental career, Darick Hemphill, owner of General Rental Center in Springfield, Mo., has answered the call to serve as president of the ARA of Missouri.

Hemphill succeeds Steve Houser, general manager/part owner, U.S. Rents It, Jefferson City, Mo., in a role that he previously held from 2009-2011. After a period of dormancy for the ARA of Missouri, the American Rental Association (ARA) state chapter was reactivated in 2019. Hemphill was part of the team of members who rekindled the group and has been an active board member ever since.

In addition to a variety of roles with the ARA of Missouri both past and present, Hemphill’s resume of leadership within the industry includes membership on the board of directors for the Southwest Missouri Rental Association in the years that organization was active. At the ARA national level, his service record includes work with the task force that plans The ARA Show™, educational speaking engagements at the show and a role as chair of the Next Generation of Rental Owners Task Force.

Hemphill also has represented the concerns of rental owners in the offices of legislators in Washington, D.C., as part of ARA’s National Legislative Caucus. In recognition of his efforts, Hemphill was named ARA Region Six Person of the Year in 2007.
