Giovanni Femia, regional sales manager, Alta Equipment Co., Albany, N.Y., has taken on the role of president for the ARA of New York. He succeeds Dave Mansbart, training/product specialist, United Rentals (formerly ABLE Equipment Rental), Deer Park, N.Y.

Femia’s company, Alta Equipment Co., began in 1984 with a single location in Detroit. Over time, the company grew to 62 locations throughout the Midwest, Northeast and Florida. For equipment rentals, Alta offers handling and construction equipment rentals from forklifts to excavators.

Femia has been in the construction industry for more than 10 years, starting as a John Deere equipment salesman and then as a regional manager with Partner Rentals in Kingston, N.Y. He joined the ARA of New York board of directors in 2021 just prior to accepting his current position with Alta Equipment Co.

“I’m beyond excited and honored to step into this role,” Femia says. “I can’t wait to get started with my amazing fellow board members.”

As president, Femia hopes to keep up the state chapter’s trend of hosting popular, beneficial networking events for members. “The ARA of New York is known for its New York Yankees game event. A goal of mind is to find an event that holds that prestige. I also hope to have more in-person social events and meetings as we finally and truly come out of the pandemic,” he says.

“My goal is to increase participation from general members through to the board. New York is a great state full of great rental companies, so I want to take full advantage of that,” Femia says.
