Construction on the National MallThe American Rental Association (ARA) will be participating at the Construction on the National Mall festival in Washington, D.C., May 14-16, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In partnership with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), ARA members and construction companies from across the nation, ARA staff will take over the National Mall with construction equipment and speak with federal representatives about what’s important to the construction industry.

“Representing ARA members at AEM’s Construction on the National Mall event in Washington, D.C., helps the rental industry solidify its place as part of the broader construction industry for federal legislators,” says Josh Nickell, ARA vice president, equipment segment. “This is critical now that more than 50 percent of equipment on a construction job site is rented versus owned. It also allows us to speak about issues impacting our members, remind legislators that we are a more sustainable solution than ownership and help the construction industry better react to market cycles like we are currently experiencing.”

In line with sustainability initiatives, participating AEM members will be showcasing cutting-edge innovations, including alternatively powered equipment, autonomous systems with live demonstrations and an array of other tools that are enabling our industry to sustainably build the infrastructure that make modern society possible. ARA is one of 17 partnering organizations joining forces to tell the construction industry story.

Exhibits focusing on workforce development, worker safety, sustainable materials and best practices will complete the representation of modern construction. ARA is excited to participate in this event to engage members of Congress, regulators and their staffs about the construction sector, innovation and sustainability and the sector’s positive impact on the American economy.
