Happy New Year, American Rental Association (ARA) Region Five members.
I can’t believe we are now in 2023. Last year was so busy — it kind of felt like just a blur of activity. A lot of us saw record revenue. This year looks to be even better, so get ready for it by attending The ARA Show™ in Orlando, Feb. 11-15. It is going to be great, so make sure you take advantage of all of it — the networking, 20-plus hours of education (including the two new Saturday options), the buying and more. I can’t wait to see you there.
As you may have noticed, this newsletter is being offered to you in a new format — a more user-friendly version that leads you to the new-and-improved Rental Management website for industry news. To help you stay connected with your rental colleagues and events happening in your state and region, these newsletters will be arriving in your inbox every month, with a rotation of special guests providing the welcome message. Enjoy it as you stay in the know.
For those of us in Region Five, winter is the time to take a deep breath and recharge our batteries. I would like to offer an additional friendly reminder: Use this time to rethink your processes and fix items that you said, “I’ll get to that in the winter,” when you were in the heat of summer. Now is the time, so do it.
As I mentioned, many of us had a great 2022 and expect to see the same, if not better, this year. If you haven’t looked at your pricing and what you are charging, now is the time to do it. Don’t be afraid to charge the higher price. Make more and work less.
Well, I hope that parting advice from your outgoing Region Five director will be helpful. This will be my last message in this newsletter. At the conclusion of The ARA Show, Robert Copley, CERP, with Event Essentials in Windsor, Wis., will be your new regional director. He will do a super job.
I would like to offer my heartfelt thank you for the opportunity to be your regional director. It has been a great experience. I know I have grown as a rental operator by meeting and being around all the great people in our region. My journey to regional director began by getting involved with my local association. The benefits to my business from my involvement have been extraordinary. I would highly recommend you and others in your company get involved. What you get out of it is so worth it — both personally and professionally.
As I close this chapter, I know our paths will cross again. I leave you with a toast for a great 2023 and look forward to seeing you again.
