Hello fellow American Rental Association (ARA) Region Five members. As the ARA of Indiana president, and on behalf of the entire state chapter board, we hope that 2023 is a great year for you.

As a board, we have discussed how business is shaping up for 2023. The consensus is that it will be a solid year as long as the economy remains productive. Rentals have remained strong for the construction segment, even during the winter months. Contractors are saying they have to turn away work as they already have an overbooked schedule. Event rental operators are seeing a similar trend, noting a strong schedule of events already set for this year.

As a board, we worked on establishing events to increase active involvement from all members, no matter the size of their business or the rental segment they serve.

We just had our first event for 2023. We brought in Andrea Butcher, author of the book “Power in the Pivot.” She highlighted how to manage through all the unknown moments that employees face during their workday, from making tough decisions to dealing with uncomfortable conversations. She shared how to lean into challenges and use them to grow and learn. This educational and networking event offered valuable insights for both young and veteran rental professionals.

Our next event will be our social with the ARA of Indiana at The ARA Show™. We are excited to be teaming up with our neighboring state chapter and look forward to building relationships not only with members from our area but also with those throughout our region.

Speaking of the show, I know we all want to offer a hearty congratulations to our colleague Dan Fielitz, president of General Rent-All in Massillon, Ohio, who just finished his term as president of the ARA of Ohio. He will be receiving the Leadership Impact Award during the Welcome Reception. Congratulations, Dan.

As a board, we are committed to offering our members a diverse array of opportunities to learn and have fun. That is why we will offer an educational session on sales in April. For the first time, we will go outside the Indianapolis area to try to attract members from outlying areas. Then this summer we plan to have a fun event around the Indiana State Fair. We plan to showcase some of our event and tent companies that already support the fair.

I know I speak for the entire ARA of Indiana board when I say we finally feel this year that we have all the resources back at our fingertips to help us support our members and listen to their needs. The pandemic and its aftermath have been challenging. Our goal is to offer content that our members are looking for and need. We feel we are making great headway in that effort.
