Empower Rental Group (ERG), located in Franklin, Tenn., has experienced significant growth in both revenue and geographical footprint. With equipment rentals like forklifts and skid steers, the company has expanded in southeast locations due to various mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

“We have 40 locations, 37 of which were due to 22 various acquisitions that we’ve completed over the past 3½ years,” says Jason Seabolt, chief operating officer. “Our ability to adapt and absorb new locations, new personnel, new fleet and integrate them into the ERG brand is imperative to our success.”

CEO Ryan Wilson says the company is not even scratching the surface of what ERG can be.

“The future is limitless,” Wilson says. “There’s an incredible runway for growth, for employee development and additional promotions across the board.”

Employee development can be attributed to Chief Human Resources Officer Bobbi Jo Jenkins who has built the foundation of employee relations as ERG has expanded in the southeastern region.

“We put effort into being the best place to work in our industry, which gives us leeway to grow quickly and do things more effectively the first time,” Jenkins says.

The growth has come quickly, but that doesn’t stop the team from accommodating each area’s individual needs.

“We’re finding a way to balance the local culture and local service requirements of our customers, but with the expanded resources of the large footprint that ERG brings,” says Seabolt.

With a mix of M&A growth and growing organically through staff retention, ERG aims to drop more pins on the map to serve areas in high demand of rental equipment. Expansion leads to new, quality team members, which the company is continuously seeking.

“We believe that the best idea wins, no matter if it comes from a driver or a branch manager,” Wilson says. “I say this all the time, but I’ll never be the smartest guy in the room. There are some really good ideas that you get when you’re out in the field.”

Tips for Growth

  • Research your location’s demographic and equipment needs. Support branches with a local touch using widespread resources.
  • Simplify technologies. Use and condense online platforms for both employees and customers enhancing the
